A new decade, resolutions…

Catherine told me today at work, you are at the other spectrum of most of the engineers that I have known. I thought it was totally funny, so in order to comfort her, I'll start with some facts.
  • (3): the number of decades I have lived so far in my life.
  • (3): the number of months I will have been working in my new job at GE Capital.
  • 2013: A year that has been fulfilled with many adventures and challenges, new friendships, renewed ones, personal growth and more.

As I enter a new decade, for the first time ever, I feel like I want to take some resolutions, not just for the upcoming year 2014, but for the next years of my life.

To act, perhaps as a reminder of what I have learned over the last year or so, and help me, stay true to myself, and hopefully you might see something in this for you as well.

Stay true to myself: Easier said than done! It is truly when I act from the heart, following my soul and intuition, that I am at my best. And this, without judgement or preconceived idea of a person or a situation by action solely based on my beliefs of what makes me a good person.

Do more of what makes me happy, and not just professionally: Take time, to be by myself and enjoy life like it needs to be enjoyed. Go on trips, even if it's just a week end away, with my family and friends, regardless of others expect ions, with respect and communication.

Communicate with the people that I love: Take the time to talk things through, without judgement and an open mind.

Patience: Work at exercising my patience, in all its forms. This will allow for better dialogue, relationships and engagement from people around me. It's truly, the thing I have to improve :).

Grounding myself: Through exercises, sports, outdoor activities. Find a way to ground myself from all the stress and pressure that the modern world is putting on us. Take the time to breathe and enjoy those "life moments", so you feel valued to be on this beautiful planet.

Write/Read more and take perspective: Take the time to learn about my experience by taking a step back and reflecting on things. Learn from others, either through books, experience sharing.

Positive attitude: As I was reading tonight, you receive what you project. I want to look at every situations or circumstance, in a positive manner, and openness to learn from it. Wether it's a work, at home, with friends or family. All relationships can benefit from this.

Cheers folks!

Night,

  1. Can I add three more resolutions to your list?

    1. Don't let anyone ever dull your sparkle.
    2. Start living the life you imagined.
    3. Buy the ticket. Take the ride.

Happy New Year Véronique...may it be your best one yet! :)
